26th Annual Gainesville Heart Ball Honors Dr. Jay Fricker

The 26th Annual Gainesville Heart Ball– Miracles of the Heart,celebrated one of the most respected physicians, researchers and professors to serve our community and the University of Florida,  Dr. Jay Fricker.

Dr. Fricker’s contributions to the field of congenital heart disease and pediatric heart transplant are recognized the world over. He has dedicated his life to the study and treatment of cardiovascular disease. His international reputation is unparalleled and well deserved. He has treated thousands of babies and children, taught and mentored generations of pediatric cardiologists and is often considered the father of the pediatric heart transplant. This year’s Heart Ball honored a man who is a champion for so many across the world for all that he has done and continues to do at the UF Congenital Heart Center.

The annual Heart Ball raises money to fund research and education programs across the nation. Our local American Heart Association (AHA) positively affects the Gainesville community in ways many of us overlook each day. AHA is present on every athletic field equipped with a life-saving automated external defibrillator. AHA is present in every hospital where doctors are able to save countless lives with technology developed from research funded by the AHA. The AHA works every minute of every day to advance groundbreaking medical research, spread lifesaving knowledge to people of all ages.
