Kids Donate to Young Patients

Shands Hospital for ChildrenCathryn Napier, a generous community member and youth group leader for the Modern Woodmen of America youth group in Interlachen, delivered 163 Jared Boxes to Naomi Martinez, Shands Hospital for Children at the University of Florida Child Life Program specialist. The boxes contain child-friendly items like crafts, toys and puzzles for our young patients. The Jared Box Project is a nonprofit organization that works to provide boxes filled with toys and games to children in hospitals. The organization strives to encourage chronically ill children. The program was started in Pennsylvania in 2001 by children who wanted to support their classmate, Jared, as he battled cancer.
