Dance Marathon raised $886,726.15

Dance Marathon at the University of FloridaMore than 800 dancers stayed awake and on their feet for 26.2 hours at the 18th annual Dance Marathon at the University of Florida. Additionally, 1,000 other students helped plan this year’s event, which raised $886,726.15, a 25% increase from the previous year.

Dance Marathon at UF benefits Shands Hospital for Children, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Dance Marathon at UF hosts events for Ambassador families and the general public throughout the year. It’s the third largest Dance Marathon in the country and the most successful student-run philanthropy in the southeast. For more information, visit Dance Marathon at the University of Florida.

A special thank you goes to the many UF physicians, Shands nurses, and guest service, Child Life and Arts in Medicine specialists who helped these students facilitate the events throughout the year.

Below is a list of physicians who volunteered  in the medical room:

  • Don Novak
  • Maureen Novak
  • Desmond Schatz
  • Satya Hegde
  • Michael Weiss
  • Sachin Talathi

We should be very proud of the fantastic students who participated in this incredible event.

I invite you all to join me on stage at the opening and closing ceremonies at next year’s event to show our appreciation for UF, CMN, and the many families who shared their touching stories of the wonderful care they received from us.

All the best,

Scott A. Rivkees, M.D.
