New Faculty Leadership Roles Announced

After an extensive interview process involving UF Health and the College of Medicine, please join us in congratulating the following Department of Pediatrics faculty for their new leadership roles in the Department. We look forward to their contributions to enhancing our clinical and operational processes.

Medical Director, Shands Medical Plaza

Marc Schecter, MD

Dr. Schecter will work with the ACU Manager, RN Supervisor, and Site Supervisor to ensure patient-centered care in a high volume and diverse clinical environment including pediatric medical and surgical specialties.  He is also responsible for maintaining certification for the VFC (Vaccines for Children) program, a federally funded program that provides free vaccines to eligible pediatric patients.  He will meet as necessary with nursing/administrative leadership as well as divisional representatives as a provider advisory group.

Medical Director, Unit 41

Leandra Woolnough, MD

Dr. Woolnough will work with the ACU manager, Shands nursing and infusion team to provide excellent care to Hematology-Oncology and Allergy-Immunology-Rheumatology patients in this high complex patient population.  She will meet as necessary with nursing and divisional representatives to address unit issues such as safety, space utilization and clinic/infusion room flow.

Leandra Woolnough

Medical Director, Ocala Specialty Clinic

Parrish Winesett, MD

Dr. Winesett will work with nursing/administrative staff as well as pediatric medical and surgical specialties to provide excellent and expanded care in this growing outreach location.  Dr. Winesett will be instrumental in the anticipated transition to a larger facility as we work to grow the pediatrics subspecialties presence in Ocala and the surrounding areas.

Medical Director, Tallahassee Brandt Hills Clinic

Mauro Lodolo, MD

Dr. Lodolo will work with nursing/administrative staff as well as the Tallahassee-based team and business development to grow our already diverse specialty service in the Florida Panhandle/Southern Georgia area.  He will also work to expand services provided through the clinic as well as work with the Tallahassee Executive Council to promote and grow our presence in this region, including fundraising that supports our department.

Medical Director, Telehealth

Ruchita Kachru, MD

Dr. Kachru will work with the practice manager and IT support to ensure appropriate telehealth services are available to those patient families that prefer or require this form of outreach.  She will work with divisional representatives/divisional administrators to provide education/training and delivery of appropriate and HIPAA-compliant telehealth services. This will likely be an expanding service as we increase our footprint of care.

Director, EPIC Optimization

Albert Chan, MD

Dr. Chan will work with the EPIC enterprise to identify enhancements and efficiencies in clinical documentation and work towards becoming an EPIC physician builder.

Dr. Berg will serve as a quality and patient safety champion, promoting a culture of teamwork and commitment to developing and improving clinical practices to achieve the organization’s goal of delivering the highest standard of safe, efficient, effective, equitable and patient-centered care. She will propel the organization forward by assuring implementation of best practices and evidence-based care. She will work collaboratively with the UF Health Sebastian Ferrero Office of Clinical Quality and Patient Safety to harmonize institutional quality and safety projects and initiatives.
