About Matthew B Steiner

Hello my name is Dr. Matthew Steiner and I am a fellowship-trained and board-certified pediatric cardiology physician at UF Health. I practice in Pensacola, FL at Ascension Studer Family Children’s Hospital, where I serve as the Northwest Florida clinical liaison to the UF Health Congenital Heart Center in Gainesville and the Director of Pediatric Cardiology services in Pensacola. I am also the Director of cardiology subspecialty pediatric residency training in Pensacola, and have been awarded in recognition for excellence in teaching. I have been recognized multiple times with the Five Star Excellence Award for being among my organization’s highest-ranking providers on patient satisfaction surveys.

I graduated with my medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and then completed my pediatric residency training at Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami where I was awarded the prestigious Charles H. Pegalow Memorial Award in recognition of my commitment to excellence in the care of children. From there I completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

I am a member of the American Medical Association, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology. I have been published in peer-reviewed journals and have presented my research findings nationally at the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, where I was awarded as a Young Investigator

As a pediatric cardiologist, I diagnose and treat congenital and acquired heart conditions in infants, children and adolescents. I pride myself on taking time to listen to the concerns of my patients and their parents. I know the importance of effective communication and strive to provide plain language explanation. I love helping patients and their families overcome congenital heart disease, and nothing makes me happier than to see my patients rise above a difficult diagnosis and thrive.

Outside of work, I am a husband to my lovely wife and father to my two boys. I love spending time on the water. I’ve been an avid kite surfer for 20 years – if the wind is blowing and I’m not at work, you can find me at the beach. When the weather is calm, I enjoy boating and fishing. I also love gardening and enjoy taking care of my collection of orchids and bonsai.
