About Michael D Weiss

Dr. Weiss is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology at UF Health, University of Florida.  He received his Bachelor in Arts and Sciences, Biology Major in 1986-1990 from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, Program in Medical Science from Florida State University in 1990-1991 and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Weiss completed his Residency Training at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia. Pediatrics 1991-1997, he also completed his fellowship program from 1997-2000 at the University of Florida.

Dr. Weiss is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics and the Neonatal-Perinatal Board and has received several honors and awards during his career. After serving as the Assistant Medical Director for the Neonatal Flight Team, he was appointed to Medical Director, a role which he currently fulfills. He has been invited to speak nationally and internally and is a grant recipient highly involved in community outreach about the stabilization of neonates in transport. His research interests include stem cell therapy for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, tracking stem cells utilizing neuroimaging, stem cell biology and transport medicine. Dr. Weiss’s clinical interest is in neonatal brain injuries.
